The Company
Matthew Oatts founded Epic Process Consulting to better serve workflow clients in the IBM Digital Business Automation ecosystem... particularly IBM BPM and Blueworks Live clients.
Today, Epic Process Consulting stays agile by remaining a “company of one” with Matthew at the helm. He works alongside a network of trusted experts to serve Epic’s diverse customer base. Clients range from mid-sized corporations exploring design thinking and intelligent automation to small businesses and non-profits looking to establish success and evolve their services.
The INSPIRATION
When Matthew started working for Lombardi Software and IBM in 2010, he established himself in the IBM “BPM” industry by seeking challenging opportunities through technical and business consulting roles. During 30+ projects and dozens of clients, he noticed a striking similarity in his projects:

Inspired by these success stories and informed by all the other stories, Matthew determined if he ever ran a company it would keep the power of the success story central to its vision. He also appreciated the necessity that companies need to make money (both his own and his customers). Today, it’s the excitement of balancing this “success story” mindset with the realities of the business world that keeps Epic thriving.
The Name
Epic Process Consulting starts every project with an envisioning exercise alongside the client to script what an epic success story might look like. By defining upfront more than measurable goals or a deliverable checklist, this approach motivates the client’s project team and makes sure results ultimately delight the client’s customers.
Additionally, all Epic Process Consulting training and consultation is designed with a reusable process-centric approach in mind. For us, “process” doesn’t mean strict structure or archaic rules, but flexible constructs which streamline productive activity and achieve repeatable results.
